DÜRED’s 4th Offshore Wind Energy Training Program Completed

Certificates have started to be issued to participants who successfully completed the eight-day training program
The Offshore Wind Energy Association (DÜRED) successfully completed its 4th Offshore Wind Energy Training Program, organized to develop human resources in the offshore wind energy sector in Turkey. The training program, held online between June 1-4 and June 8-11, 2026, provided participants with a comprehensive 16-hour education.
Official certificates, prepared in Turkish and English by DÜRED, have begun to be issued to participants who successfully completed the program and met the participation requirements. The certificates also feature the logo of TOWEA (Turkish Offshore Wind Energy Association), the international name of the association, alongside DÜRED.
The training program was organized to disseminate the technical knowledge required by Turkey’s developing offshore wind energy sector and to enhance the competencies of sector professionals. Participants who attended at least 80% of the program were eligible to receive a certificate.
Comprehensive Training Content Provided
The training program organized by DÜRED covered a wide range of topics, from the fundamental principles of offshore wind energy to project development, marine spatial planning, electrical systems, port selection, meteorology, and oceanography.
Within the scope of the program, training sessions were conducted on topics such as:
- Global offshore wind market and developments in Turkey
- Marine spatial planning and legal processes
- Turbine foundation types and seabed surveys
- Offshore WPP electrical systems
- Project development and international practices
- Clean hydrogen integration
- Supply chain management
- Port selection
- GWO safety trainings
- Data processing applications with Python
and similar subjects.
Academics and Sector Representatives Came Together
The program featured expert instructors from universities, research centers, and the private sector. The training staff included experts from Samsun University, METU RUZGEM, DEHUKAM, Piri Reis University, and industry companies, while DÜRED President Dr. Murat Durak, Vice President Dolunay Güçlüer Küpeli, Aydın Erdemir, Sabri Alkan, and other sector professionals also shared their knowledge and experience with the participants.
Human Resources are a Key Element of the Offshore Sector
In line with Turkey’s offshore wind energy targets for 2035, training skilled human resources required by the sector is of great importance. The training program organized by DÜRED offers participants a holistic perspective on many subjects, including technical knowledge, project development, legislation, port infrastructure, and safety standards.
The training programs organized by the association are expected to continue in the coming periods and contribute to the development of Turkey’s offshore wind ecosystem.
