The Offshore Wind Energy Association (DÜRED) participated in the Global Offshore Wind 2026 event and trade delegation program held in Manchester, United Kingdom, between June 15-18, 2026. Dolunay Güçlüer Küpeli, Vice Chairman of the Board, represented DÜRED in the Azerbaijan and Turkey delegation program, which was coordinated by the UK Department for Business and Trade.
Within the scope of the program, public institutions, sector representatives, and energy organizations from Turkey and Azerbaijan met with UK offshore wind supply chain companies. Discussions held during the Global Offshore Wind 2026 exhibition and conference in Manchester focused on offshore wind energy investments, supply chain collaborations, and investment opportunities.
On June 16, the delegation visited the Global Offshore Wind 2026 exhibition and held meetings with international participants. On the same day, leading companies in the sector gave presentations during round table meetings attended by UK offshore wind supply chain companies. Topics such as energy transmission infrastructure, offshore wind equipment, financing mechanisms, insurance solutions, and port infrastructures were discussed during the meetings.
Within the scope of the program, the first offshore wind energy projects and tender processes planned to be carried out in Turkey were also presented to international participants. Turkey’s offshore wind potential and developing market structure were among the topics closely followed by UK supply chain companies.
The delegation also held contacts with investment organizations, regional development agencies, and investment offices. Representatives from the Office for Investment, Scottish Development International, Invest in Manchester, Freeport East, and North East England Combined Authority gave presentations on investment opportunities in the UK during the program.
During the second day of meetings on June 17, representatives from companies such as Xlinks, JDR Cables, Wood, Worley, and ASCO World shared their experiences in offshore wind projects. Submarine cables, engineering services, energy transmission solutions, and new energy investments were particularly highlighted in the discussions.
As part of the program, the delegation visited Mostyn Port in North Wales and conducted site inspections of the Rhyl Flats and Gwynt y Môr offshore wind farms. The operations of Gwynt y Môr, one of Wales’ largest offshore wind farms, its offshore substations, and control rooms were introduced to the participants.
The contacts made with the participation of Dolunay Güçlüer Küpeli, Vice Chairman of the Board of DÜRED, are expected to contribute to strengthening international collaborations in Turkey’s developing offshore wind sector and establishing new connections with the UK supply chain.
