As a result of the studies carried out by the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources within the scope of the Renewable Energy Resource Areas (YEKA) Regulation published in the Official Gazette dated 09.10.2016 and numbered 29852, the announcement of the designated areas as “Candidate YEKA” and the initiation of detailed studies to evaluate these areas as offshore wind energy-based YEKA constitute a significant milestone for our sector.
This development represents a strategic step towards effectively utilizing Türkiye’s high offshore wind energy potential, paving the way for large-scale investments, and strengthening domestic industrial capacity. At the same time, it carries critical importance in terms of enhancing energy supply security and contributing to the country’s progress toward its 2053 net-zero targets.
